Mining Processes And Systems

Process mining is a family of techniques in the field of process management that support the analysis of business processes based on event logs. During process mining, specialized data mining algorithms are applied to event log data in order to identify trends, patterns and details contained in event logs recorded by an information system.

The course provides an introduction to the generic concepts of process management and systems engineering, and develops models for how these techniques can be applied to different mining systems. Through case studies using a selection of mining methods, the elements of typical mining operations are examined as a system of complex and inter-related processes and systems.

The Mining Process. 1. Mining – open pit and underground. To define the ore from the waste rock, samples are taken and assayed. Assay results are used to mark out areas of ore and waste rock, which are mined separately. Some of the harder areas require blasting to loosen the rock prior to excavation by hydraulic diggers.
