Mining Engineering Areas

Mining engineering is an engineering discipline that applies science and technology to the extraction of minerals from the earth. Mining engineering is associated with many other disciplines, such as geology, mineral processing and metallurgy, geotechnical engineering and surveying.

The mining and engineering industries are key for economic growth. To be part of them, enrol in mining, engineering, geology or civil engineering courses.

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in mining engineering are trained to plan, design, operate and close mines.

In addition to the main engineering fields covered within this section, there are several other accredited engineering fields to consider.

Students pursuing a Master's in Mining Engineering apply mathematical and scientific principles to the design, development and operational evaluation of mineral extraction, processing and refining systems.
